Text description provided by the architects. The Oak Cabin from Out of the Valley is a sustainable, low impact off-grid dwelling. The cabin marries traditional craftsmanship with modern wood technologies. The green oak truss forms both the structure and style of the cabin, this is then wrapped in wood fibre insulation and clad in charred cedar and black wrinkly tin. The interior panelling and built in furniture is made from white washed ash, bi-fold doors open out onto an oak veranda with a tensile canvas awning. The cabin is powered by solar and heated with a 5 kw wood burning stove. The cabin can be customised and scaled accordingly to meet the needs of different sites and inhabitants.
Product Description. The cabin is made from green oak, it forms the structure and creates a robust and secure environment. As the timber dries cracks open in the wood, adding to the patina and character of the space. Oak pegs hold the frame together.
